Coronavirus and the STAR Skin Surgery Service
After a 6 month pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we have been back in full action since September 2020.
STAR skin clinics are held on Saturday mornings at Centennial Medical Care in Elstree, and remain so whilst Miss Anthony continues with her NHS commitments during the week.
Whilst we would normally require a referral from your GP, we realise that this may be difficult whilst access to the GP is not the same as it was pre-pandemic. If you do have a referral please send it to us with your email enquiry. If you don't have a referral then you will be asked a few more questions and details by email to ensure that the STAR Skin Service is suitable for your needs.
** Please be reminded that this service is for the removal of longstanding, harmless skin lesions which are of cosmetic nuisance only and which have had no recent change. If you have a new skin lesion, or which is growing, changing, or causing you symptoms please see your GP.**
For all new referrals or enquiries please contact us directly by email at [email protected] and copy [email protected]
How we are keeping you safe:
Centennial Medical Care have an established Covid Policy to ensure that your visit is kept as low risk as possible. Please read their policy here:
Covid Policy at Centennial Medical Care
Miss Anthony and her nursing assistant have been working throughout the pandemic on the NHS, and they continue to adhere to the safest protocols to ensure patient safety in the treatment room during your visit, and they will perform a lateral flow test on the day of the clinic. Appropriate PPE is worn, and room cleaning between patients is carried out, with resting of the room before you are asked to enter for your consultation and treatment.
We ask that you wear a mask when you attend, but you will be asked to remove it if you have a lesion that is being removed on a part of the face which may interfere with the sterility of the procedure, as we continue to prioritise prevention of wound infections in parallel to considering the potential spread of covid infection.
You may have to buzz the door before entering the clinic reception in the interests of social distancing from other patients and staff. You and/or anyone accompanying you may be asked to wait in your car or in the clinic waiting area. There are hand gels for your use throughout the clinic and we ask that you use them on entry and exit.
***IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID OR ARE AWAITING A COVID TEST RESULT IN ADVANCE OF YOUR APPOINTMENT PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE CLINIC, AND PLEASE CONTACT CMC AND MISS ANTHONY TO CANCEL*** CONTACT DETAILS ARE BELOW
